Melbourne -> Adelaide.

Was staying in a place called cooee hostel in St Kilda and from there was able to get into Melbourne - in the town area was a good coffee shop called 33 1/3 if anyone is ever over here you should pay George the owner a visit and get a nice espresso and a cheese ham & tomato melt from him!! -The best in St Kilda.

It was pretty cloudy in St Kilda and Melbourne but did get a couple of nice days, over 22 C.

Met a few people in the hostel including Aidan (Gordon) who flew up to Adelaide (who we would meet up with again in Backpack Oz). Kerris (Purdy) and Rens (Bluemink) were also in Cooee who together decided would travel up the Great Ocean Road. (Kerris’ mate Gwen did the driving…)

Kerris rented a car from some place for $40/day and we split the cost of that and the petrol. $25/each for petrol. We stopped in Apollo Bay and checked out about 4 different places before settling with one that had ”The View” room!! (haha); here we met back up with Nick and Nina who had driven in their van down a couple of days earlier; cracked open a crate of Pure Blonde and easily finished the lot!

Next morning we drove to the 12 apostles (of which there are only 5/6 left!) and did the photo shoot that had to be done. The girls were in a rush to get back to Melbourne for flight to Perth so we drove a few km up the coast to Port Campbell where me and Rens found a hostel with nobody in it! It was pretty cheap too. Grabbed a pizza and a beer.

The morning after this we got a bus to Mount Gambier (there was a weirdo on the bus who had had her throat slit by her boyfriend (so she said: probably did it herself) and she had just been to Brisbane for a trial!!!!! *psycho*) and saw the blue lake - gotta admit it was pretty blue! Here we stayed in The Old Prison - security was good in this hostel. There was TV and free internet access but i was pretty tired.

Eventually got a coach to Adelaide where me and Rens met back up with Aidan in Backpack Oz. Adelaide is nice, think i prefer it over Melbourne its less busy but very similar - In Adelaide the weather has been much nicer too. Had a day at the beach and they also provide a free bike rental service in the city too so (21st April) hired some bikes and went for a cycle.

I’ve got my flight booked back to Melbourne from Adelaide but this time going to stay in the CBD as it is Anzac day over here on the 25th and i need to pick up those foo fighters tickets on the friday for the sturday!!!

Keep you all informed ;)

Chris

P.S. Photos to follow, i’ve not been able to upload any yet! Leave a comment below!!

I’ve decided to take the plunge and get my arse over to the other side of the world to do some travelling in Australia.

I spoke to a few friends who have been to Australia for a year out. One went on his own and the other with a friend who had similar ideas. I will be doing it alone, but who knows who i’ll meet over there! They each suggested a different way of going around the country and where they would have liked to spend more time. I want to do the usual east coast major cities, but i also want to spend some time along the west coast near Perth, as i hear it is amazing scenery and untainted wilderness! Bear Grylls eat your heart out - haha - what a moron - i hear he shoots his tv programme then goes back to 5 star luxury - pussy!

Anyway, enough of my Bear Grylls hatred, i finally settled on picking where i start by choosing the cheapest flight over! I am going to organise my visa very soon, probably the start of September and i am still saving for the trip. I want a new DSLR (EOS40D - when it gets released) before i go travelling and i shall need a new ruck sack as i expect to be staying in hostels or even camp sites sometime. I also want to ski in Australia; its unthinkable and unheard of anywhere inside of Europe and America & Canada. Scuba diving in the great barrier reef is another thing which is on my to-do list.

Can’t wait for the tour now, am getting giddy already!

Toad in the hole for tea tonight; Awesome!

LightWindow is pretty nice; in the sense it can display my pics from flickr or my videos from my server in a nice shadowed box known as a lightbox.

See some of my pics from Andorra in February 2006 below…

It’s been more than 8 months since the first post, but i will gradually post more frequently on here.

In February i went on holiday with a good mate of mine from Holland, Jeffrey Berkhof. We went to Krimml in Austria. A small village which is known for some decent snow and good ski conditions. The resort is primarily intermediate/advanced skiing; we had some very nice powder the second day.

As a side note, my birthday is today and i’m sat here in work adding to this extremely short blog :D - CAAAKE!!!
Over and out for now…
